RV Date: 08.19.21 Hurricanes

We are probably going to get hit by a hurricane next week. There is a Tropical Storm moving past now and a couple inches of rain due tonight. And then Henri is pushing through on Tuesday.

You know we have been dodging storms for a while, since last fall. We actually had to drive around one, Pearl I think, on our way from Memphis to Gulf Shores. Instead of shooting South from Memphis, we drove NE to get ahead of it, and then hard to starboard (turn right) to shoot south down the East side of the storm.

But, we may be responsible for the polar vortex reaching Florida last year. See, we were in Michigan and the lockdown was still in force, and Terri had been working a gajillion hours at the ER, and I was bored from not being able to do ANYTHING for 9 months. It hadn't really snowed yet. Couple of inches here and there, with one 6" dump one day, but it had mostly melted off. So, I had been doing a snowdance nightly out on the deck, calling on the north winds to swoop over warm Lake Michigan and give me something to do. I had just tuned up the snowblower and was waiting for a big snow to see how it was working. It has a 24" scoop that will cut through everything in one bite except the frozen slush curb the snowplow guy leaves. But so far the sporadic frozen flakes were too few to be worth getting it out.

Christmas came and went, and Terri actually worked all Christmas night. We were not able to visit with anyone, nor have our Christmas Eve gathering. Could not even visit the grandkids across the street other than an occasional wave.

The load at the hospitals were easing off, and Terri needed a break, and we found out that the Bowen's were going to winter in the Everglades.

Terri hadn't had a patient with Rona for a couple weeks so off we went.

I tried telling Mr North wind that it was ok, I finally had something to do, but....I had been whining for a couple of weeks....

We left Delton just before the snow began, several days of subzero temperatures began the next day. First stop St. LOUIS to visit Sandy, day after we left the temperature plummeted and snow came. Memphis got one of it's higher snow amounts shortly after we left and we woke up to snow in Birmingham. It was a little chilly in Pensacola, but got nasty after we left from what Terri's sister Joyce told us. Actually, I think it was when we were in the Keys before the storm stopped trying to catch up with us.

Sorry folks, I'll try not being bored this winter. 😎
